Mid-Year Book Freak-Out Tag

I've wanted to do this tag for yearrrrsss... and now I finally can. Because I have a blog now. Even if said blog refuses to send out notifications no matter WHAT I do. XP

1. Best book you’ve read so far in 2020:
Because no book has made me cry so much hours after I read it.
And no other book gave me the desperate longing for characters to be saved...

2. Best sequel you’ve read so far in 2020:
That was hard. But I'm going to go with Then There Were Five by Elizabeth Enright. It's book 3 in a series. but it's a sequel to book 2, so... it counts. XP And it's the best sequel I've read this year, for sure. I loved it so much!!

3. New release you haven’t read yet but want to:
Ah, well, by the time this goes live... Let's say Ivy Introspective by Kellyn Roth! She has me very intrigued. But first I want to read the first book.

4. Most anticipated release for the second half of the year:
I cannot wait at all.
It's gonna be so good.

5. Biggest disappointment:
All it discussed was the Aztec's religion. Nothing else about them. I expected more from Freeman.

6. Biggest surprise:
Mrs. Frisby & the Rats of NIMH! It was totally not what I expected, but I loved it so, so much!

7. Favourite new author:
Lauren Compton!! I really, really loved Jayne's Endeavour and it was sooo clean. I cannot wait for book 2!

8. Newest fictional crush/ship:
Okay, first I want to preface: I don't recommend the Rose Years to everyone. And I plan to reread them next year to see what I think of them then. For now, though, my favourite ship is Paul Cooley & Rose Wilder. And I'm just gonna pretend that Rose stays the sweet, happy girl she was and marries Paul and has a bunch of children and is happy. <33

9. Newest favorite character:
Sidney Carton.
Because, Sidney Carton.
But an honourable mention goes to the Honourable Frederick (no pun intended, that's his name) from Rebecca's War. Because oh, I loved that man. What a true gentleman. <33

10. Book that made you cry:
Can we say all the Elsie Dinsmore books? Because I'm fairly certain they all have. (Books 1-8).

11. Book that made you happy:
Oh, so many. But let's just say Dusty Diamonds. Because that one I said so right up in the review.

12. Favourite book-to-film adaptation you saw this year:
Babar TV Series. I haven't seen any others really.

13. Favourite bookish post you’ve done so far this year:
Bookstagram:
Blog: I can't choose between the Me in Book Characters Tag and the Journaling My Favourite Novel post.

14. Most beautiful book you’ve bought so far this year:
I... haven't bought any books this year really... I got most of them as gifts. *hides* So I'll have to say, cover-wise, Orphan at my Door, because I love the neat, natty covers of the Dear Canada books. Content-wise, Tattered Wings, by Kassie Angle.

15. Books you need to read by the end of the year:
Oh, my... many. Many. MANY. MANY MANY MANY.

Not really. But there's so many books to read and so little time!!!

I don't tag anyone, but feel free to steal it! ;) I'd love to see your answers.

P.S. Sign-ups are now open to beta-read The Colour Red! Ladies/girls only--sorry, gentlemen.

June 2020 Wrap-Up

Hello, friends! It's July. The middle of July. As if you didn't know. It's very hot. Which you probably also already knew. And I'm here with our rather late June wrap-up. I'm just full of shocking new information, aren't I?

Quick note before I start: I've discovered the reason why my posts for this blog don't send out notifications anymore. I think it's because it's too heavy as there are too many pictures. So I am seriously reducing the number of pictures I will be putting in this post. Sorry. :(

~ Happenings ~
// I grew out my nails! And them most of them promptly disappeared because they were so weak. I'm now putting coconut oil on them though, and they're doing well!

// We started having services in the church building we're renting. It's really so fun and nice to have a real church building! We've never had one before. We're very grateful that beyond social distancing and disinfecting things, there are no restrictions--not even masks. :) And we can still sing!

// The three little girls are now sleeping in another room and so we three big girls have the bedroom to ourselves! We were able to do a fun makeover. My desk is now in my room, which is much better. We also got our very own bookshelf! And a new bunkbed. The youngest sister sleeps on a trundle bed now, which significantly saves room. It's very nice now. And I got my fairy lights up. :)

// Right after we filled the bookshelf, we went to visit some old friends who are planning to move, and we came home with two big bags fullll of books. Many of them were books I've been looking for years for, so I was over the moon! They also gave me a thin black shortsleeved cardigan, like the kind I've also been looking for years for. <3

// I finally finished the first course of my copyediting certificate class--Grammar Lab. I did my exam on June 13th and received my final marks on the 15th. 93.63142%. 5,896.84 points out of 6,285. A-. I had 308 points out of 330 for the final exam. So I was pretty happy.

I really enjoyed the course. I learned a lot, had fun, and enjoyed talking with my classmates. And I got to discuss my favourite novel in an assignment. :D And as a result, several classmates added it to their TBRs!!!

And for the record, that exam was the only one to make me laugh out loud several times.

// I decided to actually step out and start talking about current happenings and other stuff on my blog and public Instagram accounts. The whole time I was scared I would get bashed, but instead people have thanked me. So thanks to the Lord, I've kept on. I just can't keep silent about this. My conscience won't let me. And I'm grateful for that, and for all my awesome friends who support me.

So I talk now. I talk about hard things and truths people don't like to hear. And it feels so freeing, and I am so peace-filled about it.

// I joined Pinterest. Which was one of the best things ever. I totally love it. And I haven't found it to be too much of a time sucker, as everyone predicted. I'm a visual person and I love quotes and things, so I'm finding so much pleasure in all those pictures! And I LOVE organized things, so all those boards and sections make me so happy! :D

// I have been participating in Camp NaNo & NaNoWriMo for about 7 years now. I was an enthusiastic supporter of the organization. But on June 2nd, I deleted my NaNo account, unsubscribed from all their emails, & quit following their Instagram. There are several reasons for this. NaNo’s been promoting unbiblical lifestyles (transgenderism & homosexuality) loudly for about two years now, not only to older adults but to young writers (13-18) as well; & I’ve been thinking of getting out of this organization for a while. Then on June 2 they made a blatant & unjust attack upon police officers which shocked & upset me deeply. They essentially called the police racist, which makes the family members of some dear friends of mine—people that NaNo doesn’t even know—racist, simply because they’re LEO. They also seem to support terrorist groups. I am not American, but I am not going to stand by silent at such injustice & wrong. As I said, I have deleted my NaNoWriMo account & I will no longer promote or recommend an organization that speaks such rampant injustice & does not honour authority. I am not alone. Many of my writer friends (more than one with LEO family) are also deeply upset by that attack. My friends are hurting; my friends’ country is being ravaged. The way to fix this is not by attacking the brave officers who place you & your loved ones above them & their loved ones. The way to fix this is by showing grace, love, mercy, & forgiveness, & moving on. The American justice system may have flaws, but it is not the officers’ fault, it is the responsibility of those higher up. Again, this is not political in any way, nor is it an attack upon anyone, nor is it saying that black lives don’t matter (some of my dearest friends are black), nor is it saying that every officer is a good officer, nor that racism doesn’t exist. It is simply a protest against the injustice of calling every single police officer in America racist—an insult to people I love—& against the unbiblical agenda that NaNo is pushing. You can email me if you want to see screenshots of emails & posts for proof of what I’m saying.

Since so many people took a stand with us on this, my writers’ group began working on creating an alternative to NaNo. On June 9, we were super excited to announce WE NOW HAVE AN ALTERNATIVE!! We set up a Writing Camp for Christian ladies. We tested it on June 8, and it is now officially open! It is called the King’s Daughters’ Writing Camp, & it is a free, online camp for Christian ladies of all ages. You can set your own goals; create your own tent or be placed in one of the current tents; there’s a whole Campground to chat & sprint with the other Campers on... it’s really super fun. It is on Slack, so everyone has to create an account, which is free & super quick to do—& really Slack is an extremely useful app; best messaging app I’ve ever used, actually. Camp runs from July 1st to July 31st. We have many campers of all ages from all over and we are having so much fun, as well as writing an awful lot. :) I believe it is still open if you want to join, so you can email me for information if you like.

Watching that thing explode into being was crazy. The very day we announced it, we had so many people message us asking for information or to be let in. So many people shared about it and about NaNoWriMo. We though we'd barely have 20 campers; we now have over 70. God is so good.

// So like I said in May, I started a new short story called The Colour Red which was supposed to be about 10k max. It grew to 20k, and then 30k... it's now almost at 40k. And thanks to my friends (and Pinterest) it has grown into a 3-book series--The Colour Blue, book 2, and The Colour Yellow, book 3. Which cover the history of Kalsyia. :D And it's called the Colours of Life Series. I had so much fun making Mood Boards! And doing MBTI tests for the characters. And just plain writing Colour Red. And so many people love it too and it makes me so happy. My MC is very appealing. XP I also researched/looked up some crazy/cool stuff for it, like ranch-style homes, bow windows, SUVs, ice cream flavours, lawn rollers, and German Shepherds... Asked for a lot of help from my writer friends and accidentally sparked a couple long discussions over ice cream and pizza instead of sprinting... XD (and made everyone crave said pizza and ice cream...). It's been fun. :D I also had to work really hard on the history, culture, and geography of Kalsyia. I also cried a lot. This story is so sad and so beautiful...

And I designed a lot of covers for my WIPs! They're quite nice and I'm very happy with them.

I also realized some really cool things about the books. The Colour Red is about danger & finding love; The Colour Blue, the police & finding peace; and The Colour Yellow, danger & finding hope. And those colours literally stand for all those things. And I didn't quite plan that!

// I also made a new Book Lover's Bliz reading challenge. And added all of the challenges to Pinterest! ;)

// People don’t generally reveal a book when it’s still unfinished & the author has no idea when she’ll get around to working on it. 😅 But I am not people, & I’m just crazy excited to reveal this & see other people’s opinions!! Bethany worked on this for a long time and I love it so, so much.

Ready??

Three brothers. Three characters. Three foundations. Which one will prove the strongest?

Roland, William, & Zephaniah Edwards have only a last name in common. Roland is a first lieutenant aboard one of Her Majesty’s ships, polished and gentlemanly, clinging to all the traditional prejudices and opinions of his class. Will is a stolid, silent gentleman farmer in Australia, hard and reserved, with no apparent interest in anything but his work. And Zeph is a long-legged, merry-tongued, unconventional lad with a warm heart full of love for every living creature.

When the three brothers visit their uncle, a wealthy settler in rural Australia, they create very different impressions. Roland plays the cavalier to his cousin and her friend, and conducts himself in every way like the model gentleman. Will lends his uncle his advice, and riles the farm hands by his exactingness and lack of communication. And Zeph, not content with befriending every creature on the place, decides to worm his way into the heart of his uncle’s right-hand man—a silent, rough ex-convict.

When unexpected tragedy befall the family, each young man is forced to sound for his foundation and reassess his character. Which one will emerge victorious over his foes within and without?

It’s more beautiful than I ever dreamed!! I am SO incredibly excited to finish with all my Kalsyian stories (Symphony of Hope Series + Colours of Life Series) & get to work on this one! It’s Australian Historical Fiction & it will definitely take a lot of work (not to mention a complete rewriting...) but it has great potential & I am really excited. I plan to do a blog post really soon revealing all the stories I’m currently working on... which I’m super excited about as well.

// I MANAGED TO KEEP A THEME ON MY BOOKSTAGRAM, Y'ALL. And on my lifestyle account!!

// I also started saying "y'all" a lot and my Southern friends wouldn't let it pass without a comment. XD

// For some odd reason I quoted a lot from the Anne books...

// I also kept up the typos with Bethany. XP We have quite a book-full now, and they include the most hilarious things such as toads, campaigns, and Lomé... though the one I will never live down is the one where I accidentally said I loved Beyoncé in a thread in the writing group. We laughed about that for a solid hour and I haven't heard the last of it. (Just for the record, I barely know who Beyoncé is and I don't endorse her in any way; I have no idea how that typo came about).

// I started wearing my Thin Blue Line bracelet basically 24/7. It stands for something.

// My 9-year-old brother saved his pennies and bought a box of fudgesicles for everyone to enjoy. <33

// I complained about "free giveaways" (GIVEAWAYS ARE BY DEFINITION FREE, PEOPLE) and about people writing emotion-triggering posts and using incorrect words, such as "grizzly" (a bear) instead of "grisly" (gruesome). *eye roll*

// For the first time in my 19 years I realized that I always look for the deep meaning in everything. Every time I took the MBTI test I always marked that as "no," but this time I realized... I do. Which is why I seldom share funny pins, lol! I always look below the surface of quotes or things and see that it's either not really truly or that it's nasty. It's a bit annoying. XP

// I started listening to the Bible + Brahms' Lullaby at night to go to sleep, and found it very relaxing. I gave it up though after I forgot to take off my earphones and woke up next morning with them wound all around my neck... #scary.

// While we're at it (actually this isn't related at all, but whatever) I just want to say how amazing my writing group is. There's always someone there to praise your writing, to help you brainstorm, to pray for you, or to encourage you. I love how we're always sharing things from the Bible in our "chapel," how we "sing" hymns around our "campfire," and how we all band around each other. It's amazing to have a group of likeminded ladies who have the same heart for Jesus and the same desire to reach out to the world with His word.

And we have a lot of fun, too. :)

// Also there are some amazing books coming out and I signed up for a lot of blog tours and cover reveals. XP

// I also decided we need to bring back the B) emoji. And wondered why no one used it. And I was told it's  because we now have the real thing, the sunglasses emoji.

Well, the fact is, to me that emoji always meant a smug grin. It looks like Garfield.

And I still think we should bring it back.

// I also binged-watched almost the entire Babar episodes (still not quite done) and totally fell in love. I read the books in French as a kid, but the TV show is different. I absolutely love it. it's very conservative and refreshing and sweet, very funny, very well done from a writing point of view... I only had a few little things against it (euphemisms, a couple mentions of aliens & witches, and a mention about fate, I believe is all). The episodes can be intense but also just puzzling, but they're very humorous and relaxing to me. There's just so much truth and wisdom and beauty in them! They really helped me calm down at times.

// Read the story of Micaiah (1 Kings 22 & 2 Chronicles 18) and really admired him... decided I'm totally naming a son Michée (French version).

// I read some really fantastic books, you guys. Books I've wanted to read forever; books that were strongly recommended to me... so many great ones. <33

// And I had my first piece of fan fiction. Someone designed a birthday party invitation for Jay. ;)

// I also signed up for my next class, Copyediting I.

// Oh, and we kept documenting things the kids say. The 4-year-old told us, "Tomorrow, when I grow up, I'm gonna buy some popsicles!" We also had the following dialogue:

Me: What are you going to be when you grow up?
Him: I'm going to be Big [his name] and have a plane, and a trailer truck, and a car, and a motorcycle.
Me: Where will you get the money for all that?!
Him: From the government.

#canyoutellhewasbornunderaliberalgovernment

// We ate a lot of tostadas and hamburgers and ice cream and chicken burgers and nachos and summer officially has the best foods.

// Besides watching Babar, I also had fun watching Country Mouse & City Mouse, Little Bear, Franklin, and Fireman Sam with my siblings. :D We also were going to take a look at Miss Spider for fun because we'd seen a couple episodes as kids and like it, but both Lissa and I were creeped out within the first ten seconds of the view because THEY ARE HUGE SPIDERS and so we didn't. XD

// We are still trying to sell our house and we've had lots of visit but no results yet (prayers appreciated)... and our amazing real estate agent keeps bringing up doughnuts when he comes. <33

// On the first Wednesday of June we kids stayed at home and watched Papa preach through livestream. It was fun and weird and interesting... XD

// I rediscovered instrumental pieces I love, like 'O min babbino caro' by Gianni Schicchi and the 'Canon & Gigue in D major' by Pachelbel.

// I've been doing really well on my read-the-Bible-in-a-year-challenge and I am learning so much and being blessed so much!! The Bible is such a marvellous book, I can't stop being amazed by it. <33

~Verse of the Month~
"Though a sinner do evil an hundred times, and his days be prolonged, yet surely I know that it shall be well with them that fear God, which fear before him: but it shall not be well with the wicked, neither shall he prolong his days, which are as a shadow; because he feareth not before God." (Ecclesiastes 8:12-13 AKJV).

~Poem of the Month~
Nox Nocti Indicat Scientiam. Yes, it is in English. And yes, it is beautiful.

~Quote of the Month~
"Natural liberty consists in the power of acting as one thinks fit, without any restraint or control, except from the laws of nature. It is a state of exemption from the control of others, and from positive laws and the institutions of social life. This liberty is abridged by the establishment of government.
Civil liberty is the liberty of men in a state of society, or natural liberty so far only abridged and restrained, as is necessary and expedient for the safety and interest of the society, state or nation. A restraint of natural liberty not necessary or expedient for the public, is tyranny or oppression. civil liberty is an exemption from the arbitrary will of others, which exemption is secured by established laws, which restrain every man from injuring or controlling another. Hence the restraints of law are essential to civil liberty.
The liberty of one depends not so much on the removal of all restraint from him, as on the due restraint upon the liberty of others.
In this sentence, the latter word liberty denotes natural liberty."

May 2020 Wrap-Up

Hello, friends! I'm back with another update. I can hardly believe it's already June. March feels like years and years ago.... but it doesn't feel like 6 months since the year started... so weird. ;P

~ Happenings ~
// So one of the first things that happened this month was I locked myself out of my phone for three days and ended up having to reset it.
yeah.
It was pretty traumatic. XP
The good part is that I got new emojis!

// I participated in making a video on what knowing Jesus meant for me. Go watch it here. It is breathtaking.
(Unfortunately it can only be seen by those who have Instagram. Sorry. :( )

// I watched King George's speech for V-E Day in 1945, and then the Queen's commemoratory talk about it this V-E Day. (You can read the King's speech here, and the Queen's here. For some reason the name of God is not capitalized in the first speech--so sorry. It's from a newspaper.) I was in tears!!! Such an amazing, sobering moment.

// We were able to go to our rented church building on the last Sunday of May to livestream! it's amazing to be in a church that's actually a "real" church. :D We were in a storefront for years (and it was not the nicest place lol...).

// Okay. This maaayyyy have been the highlight of my month. BUT. I won a cover designing giveaway from Bethany @ CoverBook Designs. OH. MY. WORD. It was an amazing time--she was absolutely amazing with me, very patient and helpful, and the finished work was beyond my dreams.... this story is partly written but needs to be totally scrapped and rewritten. And I have no idea when that will happen... But when it does... :D

// I've been working hard on my copyediting certificate course! This week (June 7-13) is my last week. By this time this post goes live I'll be done college! ;D
So yes, we celebrated that with pizza & burgers. xD

// So this happened:
National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day.
And of course I had to make chocolate chip cookies.
And we ate them while listening to the rest of Rudolf Lutz's interpretation/introduction of Bach's Cantata Christ lag in Todesbanden

// I've listened to Amanda's music on repeat most of the month. :D
Then my grandma introduced me to Fountainview Academy and I fell in love! There are a couple songs that need to be skipped, but for the most part, they are a.m.a.z.i.n.g.

// And I started a French branch of LBFJ. I'm not posting much, but... it's there. XD

// So I updated the wall above my office.... I love it so much!

// I pulled my Jane Austen colouring book out again! I love it so much and I really enjoy colouring, but I am not too constant about doing it. xP It's amazing to colour while listening to good music, though. Very relaxing.

// So I discovered this hymn this month when my sister requested it... <33

// In other news... Spring is upon us!!! Finally!!! I'm so happy.
Spring means lots of bookstagram pics. :D

// Also we had a heat wave for the last two weeks of May... not fun.

// And this month's episode of funny things the kids said...
Not a funny saying, but a funny story... we introduced the 4-year-old to the Typewriter Concerto and one Sunday he decided to pretend he was accompanying our singing on a typewriter. He was insanely good at his typewriter sounds and it was hilarious!

// Just really, really love this thing. ;D

// Kept up the Heart Findings. :)
Turns out I have a collection of heart earrings...

// I GOT A COMPUTER.
MY OWN COMPUTER.
I AM SO EXCITED!!!!!
I've wanted my own computer for soooo long and I always wanted a Mac but didn't think I'd get one. Thanks to university... I did!!! Her name is Helen MacBook. (Helen for a character of mine + Helen Keller & MacBook for Scotland + Books. And yeah, I'm aware the computer is actually a MacBook for real). She's so prettyyyyyy.

// I reached 35k in Notes!
And then this happened.
I'm now at past 15k, have an idea for a second book, and am getting on like a house afire... and loving every second. :D
And I spent a lot of time working on the land of Kalsyia and creating it and the culture, which was insanely fun!

// The 5-year-old had a birthday and Lissa, the 9-year-old, & I made her cupcakes. :D  It was so much fun! They're actually the cupcakes that the Royal Chef made for the Queen for her birthday. They're literally the best chocolate cupcakes ever. We had so much icing them!

// I also finally managed to KEEP TO A THEME on BOTH my accounts!!! I love this because it's varied but themed. :)
// I read. a lot. of good books. *nods*
One of the books I read dealt with a topic that really frustrates me. I was left really upset, & I didn’t want to tackle my next TBR because it also deals with a hard topic. So instead, I reread two Angie Thompson books that I needed to review. They both calmed my heart, & I decided to do a rereading binge of all her books. The thing about Angie’s stories is that almost every single one deals with hope/redemption & love. Each ones showcases sweet family relationships, great messages, excellent humour, & excitement/adventure, but each one is also filled with peace & calm. These stories make me cry & laugh & smile, but most of all, they satisfy my longing for an exciting, interesting, & powerful story that doesn’t leave me full of emotion. Somehow each story just brings me right back to peace because Jesus’ peace is so prominent that it calms my heart. 💙 By the way, Angie is currently giving away these stories for free! 💝

*Disclaimer: I was not asked to say any of this nor am I being compensated/paid in any way. 😉 Just sharing some favourite books with you!*

I also read a lot of poetry. <33 Classic poems are classic for a reason, guys.

// Honestly this month was a lot about finding peace and calm in the midst of everything going on... as you can probably tell if you've been reading my mini-devotionals. There were a few hard days, but for the most part I did pretty well, thank God. My biggest problem was stressing over school & all the things I had to do... or thought I had to do. I finally figured out that half my stress came from the fact that I expected myself to be able to keep doing all that I used to do on top of university... and of course that wasn't happening, and I was upset. I'm still working on figuring out how to balance all that.

(And also I've spent a lot of time being frustrated because this blog no longer sends out email notifications.)

Also there was this one day I was really having a bad day and my 7-year-old sister randomly brought me a card that said, "I love you, Katja. I hope that you love whatever you have to do in college."  😭 💙

// We had lots of house visits... a couple being last-minute. And since our real estate agent is an absolute gem, he brought us Tim Hortons doughnuts every. time. 😭

// I had fun doing a bunch of Instagram Q&As. :)

// I ended up with really painful wrists after using the computer so much... really grateful to everyone who wrote in with tips! I now lie washcloths under my wrists as I write so that my hands are the same height as my keyboard, and it really helps!

// So much fun binge-watching episodes of Fireman Sam & Country Mouse & City Mouse with the big kids this month!! There was this one episode of Country Mouse & City Mouse that was the most intense episode I've ever seen them do... it was gooood. And so much fun. :D (Note that for both shows, there is some skipping occasionally needed due to the music, besides the theme songs).

February 2020 Wrap-Up

Hello, friends!

~ Happenings ~

// I went running errands with my sister Lissa. We'd just had a big snowstorm and we’re too short to see over the snowbanks! It was a fun ride. xD
(Snowbanks in Montreal)

    (Snowbanks at home)

// I reread allll the Emily Abbott books to get ready for the second season. I'M SO EXCITED. I'd forgotten how much I loved them & how good they were. Book 7 is scheduled to come out in March and I can't wait!!

// I did A LOT of blog prep. I've only got December + a bit of November left to do for OFBL, and for LBFJ I've got most of posts already decided on & need to write them up. It's a lot of work but it will be helpful, I think. And I like being prepared. ;D And I also majorly updated & formatted my Book pages on OFBL.

^^side note: as of March 2, I have 113 posts ready & scheduled for OFBL.

// I reread Constance Savery's “Reb & the Redcoats” with Mary, and enjoyed it so much, and picked up on a super cute & sweet thing, and remembered why I loved the book so much... its so goo

// I edited & rewrote a little of my short story (< 5,000 words) Just Allissa. I will be running through it one more time sometime this year and then I'll be publishing (aka putting the files in Dropbox for you all to access it) during September or October. :)
// You guys. I finally reached a major reading goal of mine. I finished the Questions of War series. Finally. I was so happy. But also so broken. ;)

// Talking of reading (I read an insane amount of books this month, even more than in January), I did a lot of reading. I reread Alice's Adventures in Wonderland + Through the Looking-Glass, Heidi, and many Indie books. I also started the Elsie Dinsmore series. As of March 2 I've just started Elsie's Womanhood. I'm really enjoying the books so far! I also finally restarted & finished A Tale of Two Cities... oh my heart. No book ever made me cry with joy hours after I finished it... except this one. Sydney Carton, people. So real. Such an amazing redemption. <33
    ^^My friends know me well....

// ALSO. I RECEIVED A SIGNED COPY OFFFFF....
AHHHHH!!! I was so happy. This is one of my top 10 Favourite Indie books and one I was really implicated in AND I HAVE A SIGNED COPY!!! No one ever sends Canadian readers signed copies. I'm so happy. ;D
// I took some very complex (at least for me) bookstagram pictures. And I also participated in the #IndieLove20 challenge & spotlighted an Indie Author book every day except Sunday on my bookstagram. It was so fun!! I also got a story of theme for a while, which made me happy...

// We had doughnuts for breakfast one morning. That was unexpected and so nice. :)
// I also published my 100th post on this blog!!! It was the one on Rejecting Prejudice--very fitting, I think, because it's a topic I believe deeply in & think often about, and also this blog is a place for me to talk about deep stuff like that.
// I looked through some old videos on my phone & just soaked in the scenery. I miss summer so much!!! Thank God it's almost April--which means spring will start coming. But I'm also trying to be content in the season I'm in. :)

// Little joys... I learned how to change colours on Instagram stories and how to get the degrees symbol!! XD And the colours changed on my IG chats for one account and I LOVE THEM.
// I listened to my (Scottish) folk song playlist again. I had stopped for a time because my earphones broke (yes, I know, again. I DON’T KNOW WHY MY EARPHONES BREAK SO MUCH. Though a little sibling did help these along. 😏 I’m trying extra hard to be extra careful with these.) Anyways. Now I’m listening to my folksong playlist & my hymns playlist and I’m falling in love all over again... I love these songs & these hymns so. very. much. I also discovered Rule, Brittania which I have heard a lot of but never listened to. It was like finally meeting an old friend... and I'm in love. IT'S SO BRITISH. <33 and the tune!! Oh, and The Minstrel Boy, too. Love it so much!!!

Rule, Britannia!
Britannia, rule the waves.
Britons never, never, never shall be slaves.

^^the chorus is my favourite part!! <33
As for The Minstrel Boy, I love the whole thing :D

// I finally write down some quotes from Sheffey that I had marked down & now I want to rewatch it...

// I think I finally nailed the getting up early thing... XD But it's still harddddd... Now that I have 6:00 rising down I'm aiming for 5:00 rising!
// A used the Rain Rain app constantly and created some amazing mixes. ;D
// I did A LOT of this This or That thing. It’s sooo much fun. Bet my followers were properly sick of me though. XD I also did some 3-things-about-me and recommended books of specific genres!

// My mother has discovered this amazing math program & she's been doing it with my younger siblings and she's been encouraging me over & over to do it because she thinks it would really help me (I'm horrible at math and can barely do mental addition.) So I finally started. Due to the craziness of the end of this month I didn't do much. But already I love it!
// And speaking of math, this happened...
// I reread Enemy Brothers again. ;D This time I Buddy-Read it with Kassie. It felt so good to be once more in that book. It always helps to make me feel calm & at peace--it's home. It's comfortable. I chatted it over with Kassie & with Mary (guys, we talk of SO. MANY. THINGS--and we really talk of crazy stuff--but no matter what we start with we usually end up back on EB. Honestly) and I also journaled my way through reading it. I'm planning a post with a tour of my EB journal and my notes on EB, so stayed tuned for that. :) We also used the Reading Guide which Mary & I created, which was super fun. And I found plenty of stuff to fix. XP

// I started adding more stuff to the wall above my desk! My word of the year, my hymn of the year, my verses of the year, & my quote of the year, + two lists of productivity tips & some verses I'm memorizing. I love it!
// I finally dug out an old WIP called The Tangled Web (and confused everyone by calling it TW so now I call it T.Web xP) It's a historical fiction mystery, and so I decide that I was going to throughly outline it before I started wiring on it again. I'm also doing a TON of research because I want it to be as accurate as possible. And I'm having so much fun.

^^Researching shipwrecks in 1833 was the coolest thing ever. Just sayin'.

^^You know you're an author when you spend hours researching the perfect illness for your character. Let me tell you, now I know why so many people died in the 19th century.
// I'm so happy with my hair!! MONAT is making it so nice. <33
// I had a lot of fun posting pictures & pairing them quite poems or quotes. :)

// I painted my nails. I'm trying hard tomato them grow and that's one way to keep from chewing them. And nail polish just makes me so happy. Unfortunately, two years ago I developed an allergic reaction to nailpolish and so I quit wearing it. In December I tried wearing basecoat/topcoat and that gave me no problems, so this month I tried the whole kit & caboodle. I still had a reaction, but it wasn't too bad, so I will probably start painting my nails again--and I'm so glad!! I also FINALLY have some nails and I'm jubilating. Only they break easily because they're so weak.
I swear that's progress...
// I tried out the screen time thing on my phone that keep me off apps during certain hours. I can't get it to work for my particular schedule and it's driving me crazy XD but it's also really helpful so I'm keeping it on.
// After looking through my mother's library I decide to add my name and the date I got it to my books. So far I've only done EB, lol, but I plan to do the rest too. :)
// I now have 6 journals. My EB one (in which I transcribe reflections about EB), my 5-year diary (because it's cool to see how things change over 5 years), my regular diary (because I have way more stuff to say than I have room for in the 5-year one), my church journal (for sermon notes, which I'm not very good at because I often forget my pen), my devotions journal, and my reading journal (which I am really enjoying). XP
// Random....
^^ Found this out by accident while researching T. Web!
^^ Too accurate.

^^This. <33 My Heavenly Father never ceases to amaze me.
    ^^Bet you didn't know that.

^^ Patterns are so important to me.
^^In case you forgot, spiders freak me out.
^^I have a thing for poetry, if you haven't noticed.
^^This quote. Oh my word. Hit me like a brick. I can't ask or seek to grow & not be watered or stretched.
^^PSA in case anyone was interested. XP
    ^^My writing prayer. <33

^^It wouldn't be a Wrap-Up post without some of these texts, would it? xP

    ^^ #nowordsneeded
^^ THIS. This is one of my favourite hymns ever. <33
    ^^ Ahem, yeah....
^^Still working on this one, so if you'd like to write in any assumptions about me, I'd be so grateful!
^^Remembered this by accident, looked it up, & fell in love again...
    ^^This was fun!!!
^^For some reason I did a lot of random facts about me this month...
^^Did I mention that spider creep me out??
^^I'm glad I'm not the only one.
^^This filter is so extreme but I love it. xP
    ^^TATTERED WINGS RELEASED & I'M SO HAPPY.
^^So glad I finished before March!!
    ^^This is so creepily true...
    ^^ ALL. THE. TIME.
